The disciplinary hearing
At the disciplinary board, the golden whistle was evidence in a case running to dozens of volumes. On the day of the hearing, all the volumes were there. The whistle wasn't. Not every row and column has to be occupied.
Suspects
- Augusta, the case rapporteur: She wrote a three-hundred-page report. Nobody got past page ten.
- Bernardo, the club's lawyer: He asks for adjournments on principle. This time he asked to see the whistle.
- Conceição, the archive clerk: She keeps the evidence for every case. This is the first piece she's lost.
- Daniel, the accused referee: He says he only blew for what he saw. The problem is what he didn't see.
