The gala dinner

At the end-of-season gala dinner there were awards, long speeches, and nobody noticed when the golden whistle left the top table. Not every row and column has to be occupied.

Suspects

• Alfredo, the visiting club's president: He gave a speech about fair play. Nobody clapped until the end.
• Bianca, the dinner organiser: She did the seating plan. She sat all the referees together, by chance.
• Conrado, the cloakroom attendant: He looks after the coats and whatever comes in their pockets.
• Domingas, the guest fado singer: She sang two fados and overheard three conversations she shouldn't have.
