The minister's visit
A week after the theft, the minister went to Tancos to assure everyone it was all under control. For the visit, they showed him the only grenade left. By the time the minister left, it was gone too. Some clues in this case come as riddles. If one stumps you, a hint will solve it. Nine people and one grenade, one per row and one per column. Nothing is handed to you on a plate: you'll need more than one hypothesis to get to the end.
Suspects
- Adolfo, the defence minister: He told reporters that, at the limit, there may have been no theft at all. The reporters wrote down the limit.
- Brás, the base commander: He prepared the visit for six days. For the theft he hadn't had the time.
- Constança, the minister's adviser: She wrote the line about the limit. She says on paper it had less limit.
- Diógenes, the signals corporal: He set up the microphone for the speech. The microphone picked up everything except the part about the grenade.
- Esmeralda, the TV reporter: She went live outside the magazine. In the first live shot you could see the grenade; in the second, you couldn't.
- Fortunato, the storeroom sergeant: He took the grenade out of the storeroom for the visit. He has the signature for it going out, but not for it coming back.
- Guiomar, the ministry photographer: She took two hundred photos of the minister and one of the grenade. That one came out blurred.
- Humberto, the mess cook: He made a seven-course lunch for the minister. The minister ate two and said everything was under control.
- Isménia, the opposition MP: She came uninvited. She asked to see the magazine and was told it was closed to visitors.
