The limit of humour
On the first day, the court heard where humour ends: the moment it causes harm. In the corridors, everyone had their own definition. The fan passed through the debate and never came out. Eight people and a fan, one per row and one per column. Almost nothing is said directly: you'll have to cross everything.
Suspects
- Anacleto, the philosophy lecturer: He came because he teaches a module on the limits of humour. He left with no limit for the module.
- Belarmina, the pensioner who comes to every trial: She comes to the courthouse the way others watch soaps. This one's the best since last week.
- Cristiano, a lawyer on another case: He was waiting for his own hearing and joined the corridor debate. He gave three opinions for free.
- Dália, the arts journalist: She usually writes about theatre. She says this trial has a better cast.
- Estevão, the stand-up comedian: He came to take notes for his next show. He filled a whole notebook.
- Filipa, the communications intern: She summarises the session live for a newspaper's socials. It has to fit in two hundred characters.
- Gaudêncio, the library clerk: He fetched three books on free speech for a lawyer. The lawyer already had all three.
- Honorata, the cleaner: She says the limit of humour is the floor of Courtroom 7 after a session like this.
