The police report
The police wrote a sixty-page report on the night of the office. Page 41 says eight people passed through the floor. Page 42 is missing a piece of evidence. Some clues in this case come as riddles. If one stumps you, a hint will solve it. Eight people and one piece of evidence, one per row and one per column. Almost nothing is said directly: you'll have to cross everything.
Suspects
- Adelaide, the police superintendent: She wrote sixty pages. The conclusion fits on one: inconclusive.
- Belchior, the MP who got there first: He arrived at seven and says he found everything ransacked. By five past seven he had given three interviews.
- Cremilde, the cleaner: She cleans the floor at six. That day, out of respect for the investigation, she only cleaned half.
- Dionísio, the computer forensics expert: He examined the office computer. He found thirty-two open tabs and none was about the matter.
- Eduarda, the party's legal adviser: She says the report proves nothing. She also says it proves everything, depending on the day.
- Fernão, the lift attendant: He takes people up and down. That night the lift sat on the second floor for forty minutes.
- Guida, the night-shift reporter: She was in Parliament doing a story about something else. Now the story is about this.
- Hélder, the leader's driver: He waited in the car all night. He says he saw lights on in the office. The car was in the garage.
