Papers over a year old

Some of the papers that disappeared were more than a year old. Down in the basement there are boxes far older than that and nobody ever misses anything. On a night when half the basement wasn't even visited, someone was left alone with the evidence. Not every row and column has to be occupied.

Suspects

• Anselmo, the archivist who only went to fetch a box: He knows the basement archive better than his own house. He visits it more often too.
• Branca, the night shift receptionist: She's worked nights for years and has seen everything, except what she gets asked about.
• Cesário, the electrician on call: He fixes every electrical fault in the building, except the one in his own version of events.
• Domitila, the administrative assistant: She handles all the paperwork. The paperwork that shouldn't exist, she handles with extra care.
