The code of ethics
At the League's general assembly, a code of ethics was up for a vote. Before the vote, the golden whistle, displayed at the entrance as a symbol of transparency, went out of sight. The code passed unanimously. Some clues in this case come as riddles. If one stumps you, a hint will solve it. Nine people and one whistle, one per row and one per column. Nothing is handed to you on a plate: you'll need more than one hypothesis to get to the end.
Suspects
- Aurélia, the chair of the assembly: She read the code of ethics aloud. Nobody interrupted, so they could get it over with.
- Boaventura, the president of a small club: He voted in favour of everything. He says a small club can't afford to be fussy.
- Clarisse, the translator: She translated the code of ethics into English. In English it came out shorter.
- Dagoberto, the president of a big club: He voted against and then in favour. He says he pressed the wrong button both times.
- Emília, the receptionist: She handed out the badges. There was one badge left over, but no whistle.
- Filipe, the League's lawyer: He wrote the code of ethics. He says it has exceptions for everything except him.
- Generosa, the cloakroom attendant: She keeps the coats and never asks what's in the pockets. House rules.
- Hugo, the press officer: He wrote the press release about the unanimous vote before the vote. To save time.
- Isidoro, the vote counter: He counted the votes by hand. Unanimous at the first count, which had never happened to him before.
